Well here we are, back again, tapping away on WordPress. I don’t really like the word blog. I find it cringe and it reminds me of when I took flatlays of outfits on my bed aged 16, thinking someone was interested in my ‘fashion content’. I first started ‘blogging’ in my teens, back in the earlier days of social media, before I even had instagram. I would religiously plough through content from my favourite women on the internet, namely Sarah Ashcroft and That Pommie Girl and Amy Bell’s The Little Magpie. That Pommie Girl was a series of outfit photos taken on Sarah’s driveway, with attempts to hide the fact that these pics were taken on a residential estate. I did very much the same thing (but a whole lot worse). Sarah Ashcroft now owns a huge clothing brand, SLA and recently revamped That Pommie Girl into a slick new site with all her affiliate links for beautiful clothes. How times have changed.
The flatlays of accessories on my white bed sheets will not be returning, thank god, but sharing thoughts on life on the internet will be. I absolutely adore writing and I have been doing it for ages. It took me a while to get back into the swing of it after my degree. History essays really can kill your love of the written word. But I returned, writing on topics I cared about and sharing them on my LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a strange strange world and perhaps not the best location for my musings, hence why we are back here. Recently I have written about climate action, the capitalist takeover of International Womens Day, our sewage crisis in our seas and the important work I am doing with Reclaim The Sea. A pretty big range of topics but all with an underlying theme of activism, justice and the importance of positive steps forward for change.
I probably should have started this website years ago, but as titled, the best time to start was yesterday and the second best time is today.
If you’ve made it this far, congrats. More rambles to come shortly x
